ENGAGING MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS IN MATH AND SCIENCE
Here is an exciting opportunity to explore ways to increase girls' interest
and participation in math and science at a time when you can have
significant impact---middle school. Join with formal and informal
educators for an online course designed to help strengthen equitable math
and science classrooms and support learning for girls and boys. A
nine-week course that fits your schedule--you log on at a time that meets
your needs. This course builds on what teachers already know about good
instructional practice, addresses the unique social and academic needs of
middle school girls, and explores the "lenses" and "hidden curriculum" that
unintentially may limit girls' engagement with math or science.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: September 8, 2000
COURSE BEGINS: September 25, 2000

For more information and to register, see our website at
www.edc.org/WomensEquity. Sponsored by the Women's Educational Equity Act
(WEEA) Resource Center.
