[EDEQUITY] teen mother, continuation school

Hi, Folks: Can you help someone find case law on the following type of
incident? We have been told, variously, that this is not illegal when
there is a continuation school (continuation school being an "equal
educational opportunity"), and that no continuation school can amount to
an equal opportunity.

Here's the case: "There is a teenage girl who is a parent of two
children. The assistant principal is apparently telling her that she has
to go to the continuation school because she is "an embarrassment." She
wants to stay at the mainstream school. Wasn't there a discrimination
case in the past few years involving a pregnant student? I have a vague
memory, but I recall a Title IX case that had a similar story. I'm
hoping you can point me in the right direction."

We would greatly appreciate guidance.

Thanks! Linda Purrington, Title IX Advocates, lpurring@earthlink.net
