[EDEQUITY Male Dialogue] Friendships & situations

Some great points have been made regarding the competitive orientation of
boys and the cooperative orientation of girls. But what immediately comes
to mind is some exceptions. When my son was in a college fraternity, I
was amazed at the cooperation and bonding extended to other frat
brothers. At times it defied all logic but seemed to be a mandatory part
of the code. And then I see the fierce competition of some girls (and
women) over what are considered to be the choice males. The rules of
friendship seem to be suspended in these situations. I know there are all
sorts of psychological and anthropological explanations for this, but it
does suggest to me that some of our generalizations may be limited,
depending on the situation.
