Gender equity in grades K-8

I'm an editor for Learning magazine and am doing an article on gender equity. I
need ideas/quotes from teachers on how they make sure boys and girls are treated
equally in their classrooms. Just K-8 teachers.When did you become aware of the
problem? Is your school doing anything about it? Do you have any tips for other
teachers on how to treat kids equally? I need practical advice and good quotes!
(You can also tell me about unfair practices you've noticed--perhaps you were
even guilty of this behavior yourself in the past!) We'll pay you a small
