Please explain why the involvement of Stony Brook could rcreate a Title
IX violation. This is important to several possible cases that are
monitoring this list for help, and to a great number of others who would
like to understand the link between federal funds (receiving federal
funds requires an educational institution to comply with Title IX) and
programs that discriminate against girls but that may or may not be
direct recipients of the federal It is important for us to make such
information as clear, readable, accessible, and detailed as possible;
democracy only works when information is readily available. Legal
information in particular needs to be spread as widely as possible among
the population whose freedoms are affected; in this case, all students
and teachers.

Thank you,
Linda Purrington
