"Redefining Liberation" campaign and media

Dear members,

Your interest in addressing the powerful and often destructive influence
of the media is quite important. In the United States, the "Redefining
Liberation" campaign of the NOW Foundation represents one excellent
effort to both raise the consciousness of women, especially younger women,
about the profound influence of the media, as well as to demonstrate the
types of activism that have been somewhat successful in influencing
mainstream media to alter its demeaning portrayals of women. The video
used in this campaign (also titled "Redefining Liberation") is about 22
min long and only $10 (US) postpaid. In the past 1 1/2 yrs, I have found
it to be an excellent consciousness-raising tool with high school and
college students, both male and female.

Order from: NOW Foundation, 1000 16th St NW, Washington, DC 20016

Sincerely,
Judy Norsigian

PS: We are offering free copies of "Our Bodies, Ourselves for the New
Century" (published in May 1998) to women's health groups serving women
with little or no income (including women in prisons) - as long as our
funds for this program last. Please pass on the word....
