It seems to me that all the angst about who has benefitted the most is a
red herring. The issue is getting adequate support for high quality
education for both girls and boys. Let's think about not fighting for a
bigger slice of the pie. Let's instead talk about the size of the pie itself.

As ed budgets shrink (in some cases due to the stupid idea that taxes
shouldn't support public schools), scapegoating will increase. Education
is expensive in the short term; ignorance, miseducation and
undereducation will cost much more down the road. Let's concentrate
on where a good education leads, not on fighting with each other. Just
my gut reaction to all of this... I see real dangers in getting into a shouting
match on "their" terms; let's set out our premise and argue from that and not
get sidetracked.
