Good points Kristin and Peggy. In Minnesota, Superintendents', School
Board Chairpersons and Clerks of the Board have to send the education
department their signature on an Assurance of Compliance with state and
federal laws form once a year. In some cases, where there is a
discrimination complaint, it is important to call the Superintendent and
remind him or her that it is they and the board who run the school and that
they cannot discriminate, and that the athletic director works for them and
it is not the other way around. They can't make decisions that take the
district further out of compliance. They can make decisions which seek to
close the gap and remedy the compliance problem. Sue.sattel@state.mn.us
