Our goal for this conference is to build and expand our community -
to provide support for educators working for equity and to strengthen
our professional and personal relationships with one another.
Participants will learn:
* concrete tools and strategies for addressing equity issues,
* effective and constructive use of achievement data in professional
* how university educators can make changes in teacher preparation courses,
* how to create supportive environments for change,
* how to take school level action related to curriculum, teaching
placement policies, and other matters that affect student access and
* how to help change classroom teaching practices.
This conference will not be the usual sit-and-listen event. We will
provide opportunities for extensive interaction and communication
among the 300 expected attendees.
The conference is open to any educator interested in promoting
educational equity and is especially for educators who have
participated in projects sponsored by the National Coalition for
Equity in Education, such as the Equity in Mathematics Education
