[EDEQUITY] A resource

I have recently finished co-editing a book on gender equity issues for
students receiving special education services. The research very much
confirms what you suspect: it is not so much that boys are overrepresented,

but rather that girls are overrepresented among students receiving special
education services. Dr. Michael Wehmeyer at the Beach Center at the
University of Kansas in Lawrence, along with a colleague, Michelle
Schwartz,
has published some compelling evidence to this effect; their research
findings will also be included in the edited text that I mentioned (Mike,
in
fact, is my coeditor). The book is called Double Jeopardy: Addressing
Gender
Equity in Special Education, and will be published by SUNY Press, hopefully

this coming spring.
