[EDEQUITY] Overrespresentation in special education

Linda Purrington posed an interesting question in her reply to Thilda
Coyman
when she wondered if the overrepresentation of boys in special education
might actually represent an underrepresentation of
girls (preferred access to funding and services). Linda's dismissal of the

incongruence inherent in her statement that the same targeting
mechanism functions in a racist manner (more blacks than whites in special
education), however, does concern me. Is this just an attempt to remain
politically correct at all costs or is there actually a logical,
justifiable
explanation here that I'm just not seeing? Could you elaborate please?

Thank you.
