Gaining a Foothold : Women's Transitions through Work and College

Issue Quarterly Focuses on Immigrant and Girls in the US
Women and their dependent children currently make up 80% of her world's
immigrants and refugees and the majority of immigrants to the U.S. The
third issue of Issues Quarterly considers the "feminization" of immigration
in the U.S.looking at how foreign and domestic policies, economic trends,
social attitudes intersect with issues of gender to shape the experience of
female immigrants and the dynamics of immigrants. This volume will be

on this topic. It's packed with practical suggestions and ideas on how
teachers, administrators, and paraprofessionals alike can promote gender
equity and foster cooperation between sexes in their work with young

Developing Roots and Wings: A trainer's Guide to Affirming Culture in Early
Childhood Programs by Stacey York (1992)
The trainer's guide is intended for trainers, directors, and college
instructors. Roots and Wings provides an introduction to early childhood
multicultural education. It provides background information, guidelines for
implementing a multicultural curriculum, and many activity ideas. This
training guide serves as resource that you can use to help teachers
transform their classrooms and adapt multicultural curriculum to fit their

Software:
 Relate for Teens is a Social Learning and behavior
training program, that has been demonstrated to reduce aggressive
behavior, increase pro social behavior and improve educational outcomes
among middle school students. It is being used in a variety of school,
health and corrections settings. There are also versions for younger
kids and teachers. Research is ongoing. It is available from ripple
