My colleagues and I are pleased to share the news that New Moon magazine
was recently awarded the 2001 Eleanor Roosevelt Award from the American
Association of University Women (AAUW). This prestigious award, established
in 1989, honors an individual, project, organization, or institution for
outstanding contributions to equity and education for women and girls.
Those of us who dialogued with New Moon's articulate and thoughtful young
writers know that the magazine is indeed a best practice at work. It offers
girls a creative outlet; space for their voices and ideas to be heard; and
opportunities to learn from each other, drawing strength from the
commonalities and differences among them. Congratulations, New Moon! We at
EdEquity look forward to more collaborations in the future.
