Okay. The repetition problem is over. Here are the answers to your most
frequently asked questions.

WHAT HAPPENED?
Every time two of EDEQUITY's subscribers received a message, their system would
reply with an automatic message. Because the auto-reply was sent to the list,
they would receive their messages back and everything would start over again.
They recieved their own messages and each other's, resulting in the mess you
witnessed.

WHY DID GAEA'S RESPONSE TAKE SO LONG?
I was out of the office. When I found out at roughly 3:15 EST, I unsubscribed
the two addresses, contacted EDC's MIS department, and contacted the AAUW.

WHY DID THE MESSAGES CONTINUE FOR A WHILE LONGER?
There were messages already traveling through the system when they were
unsubscribed.

WHAT OTHER MEASURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN?
Up until now, you didn't have to be a subscriber to send a message to EDEQUITY.
the messages en route would not have gotten through. We're still looking into
additional measures.

WHAT CAN I DO WHEN STUFF LIKE THIS HAPPENS?
You can send me a message. I check my moderating address and my monitoring
address a number of times a day. But, DO NOT SEND ME MORE THAN ONE MESSAGE. I
receive 3 to 7 times the number of messages the list does because of mail
systems that are experiencing difficulty. Also, other people are doing the same
exact thing. Because this is only one of my tasks, I am often working on
something else. Having my moderating mail box saturated with extra messages cuts
down on my response time.

You can also unsubscribe for a day.

HOW DO I UNSUBSCRIBE? AND OTHER USER'S GUIDE TIDBITS
Please remember to send your user commands to majordomo, not edequity. Please
