The Honolulu Chapter of AAUW has held a very succesful activity called
GEMS (Girls Engaged in Math and Science) for the past 10 years or so. As
you say, this is targeted towards the middle school population. But the
method may fit your purpose, and that is having successful women from a
variety of occupations demonstrate the math connection to their
occupation. Math becomes a means to an end--their occupational choice.

I don't know if this would fly with older females, but I do know that
parents are concerned about their children completing an education in
order to be successfully employed. Airline pilots, opthamologists,
metorologists, oceanographers, chefs and police officers are just a few
examples of occupations that have been presented.
